tour of the fireflies '08

bike for clean air!

April 20 is a big day for me. For the first time, I joined a bike fun ride which ran 50 kilometers through seven cities in Metro Manila.

It all started when my friend asked me to visit the website of the Tour of the Fireflies and then I said it's interesting. Afterwards he started asking his friends if they have an extra bike to lend to his little sister, eherrm, and that's me. Before I knew it he already bought me a jersey and a pair of warmers. How can I ever quit then?

The Miss Earth candidates joined the ride too with their victorian-styled bike sans the flower baskets and flamboyant hats. Should I've known that they will be donning pink blouses i should have worn one too. And oooppss... dont forget the dark green sash. ;)

At the strike of 8 o'clock we started our first few pedals and then the momentum set in. The best thing I enjoy about biking is the speed, and the air passing through your face, opposite your direction. I am not a seasoned biker like Henry but I know the adrenaline rush it brings while you're on the road.

Im glad there is Gilbert with me who's more than willing to sacrifice himself by always taking the danger side of it. I owe him the bottles of water he carried thoughout the ride. Har har har!! Thanks Papa G!! You're the man!

And while on the road, Gilbert had treated me like it was my first time to ride a bike!!! And I cannot forget his face when I almost scratched a newly bought Toyota Revo (ooopppss.. i went out of balance, churi!). To his dismay, he asked me to maneuver to the service road in Roxas Boulevard. :-(
It was fun biking with thousands of people who shares your enviromental protection beliefs...

And finally the finish line. If I were not wearing my glasses, i could have showered under the firetruck's sprinkler.

Totally cool!!!!
